KEY FEATURES AND BENEFITS
WET PUMPING
Fundamental benefits of Edwards RV pumps for “wet” applications:
- Highest vapour pumping capacity amongst rotary vane pumps.
- Pump maintains lubrication at a high flow due to the distinctive mode selector switch
- Gives a 220g/hr (290g/hr on RV12) water vapour handling capacity due to the highest gas ballast flow amongst all rotary vane pumps.
- Optional oil return kit to ensure the oil remains in the pump at high flow
A nitrile (Buna-N) conversion kit is available for applications where there is incompatibility between vapours and fluoroelastomer (FKM) seals. Moreover, for pumping large quantities of oxidants, PFPE pumps may also be ordered.
DUSTY
Fundamental benefits of Edwards RV pumps for “dusty” applications
For preventing the dust getting back into the process, the Edwards RV pumps have premier anti-suck back protection. For removing pressure surge, there is a controlled opening by oil pressure.
Quick closing within 0.4 seconds of pump stopping due to dump valve
- Clogging is avoided by having a large diameter in oil passages (3-5mm)
- There are diameters less than 1mm in oil passages in some competing pumps.
The Edwards range of RV pumps are perfect for dusty applications and are designed using the experience of CVD and PVD applications from the semiconductor industry.
CLEAN/DRY
Fundamental benefits of Edwards RV pumps for clean/dry applications
- Pump maintains lubrication at a high flow due to the distinctive mode selector switch
- Optional oil return kit to ensure the oil stays in the pump at high flow
- For preventing the oil mist getting back into the process, the Edwards RV pumps have premier anti-suck back protection. For removing pressure surge, there is a controlled opening by oil pressure.
Quick closing within 0.4 seconds of pump stopping due to dump valve
The pioneering mode selector function on the pump indicates that the pump will work well in both high vacuum applications and high throughput application. An optional oil return kit can be fixed to allow continuous operation for high throughput applications without losing oil down the exhaust line.
OXIDANTS
Key benefits of Edwards RV pumps for pumping oxidants:
- Highest gas ballast of any rotary vane pump
Allows dilution of pumped gases to minimise oxidation of the oil - PFPE variants available
Ideal for pumping oxygen and halogenated compound
The RV pump is an ideal pump for oxygen because it maintains dilution to a level lower than the explosive limit. When the optional oil return kit is fitted, the gas ballast is prevented from blowing oil into the exhaust. Oxidation of the oil is avoided by the PFPE prepared pump.
This is the reason why oxidants such as halogens and halogenated compounds can also be pumped using the RV pumps. In that case, a gas ballast is useful for the protection of oil and bearings even though there is no fire/explosion issue with the same. PFPE must be used to prolong the life of the pumps.
